Albatros Expeditions Concludes a Remarkable 2023 Arctic Season Aboard the Ocean Albatros

Ocean Albatros’ Spectacular Debut: A Successful Conclusion to Albatros Expeditions’ 2023 Arctic Season

Fort Lauderdale, FL — (October 17, 2023) — Albatros Expeditions is thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of its 2023 Arctic season onboard its newest vessel, Ocean Albatros, marking her maiden season after joining the Albatros Expeditions fleet in June earlier this year. The eco-conscious vessel’s performance exceeded all expectations, setting the stage for her upcoming debut in the southern hemisphere this November.

During this extraordinary season, the Ocean Albatros embarked on a captivating journey, visiting a diverse range of destinations, including Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Iceland, Northwest, South and Northeast Greenland. The expedition team crossed the coveted 80-degree north latitude an impressive five times within Svalbard’s pack ice, providing guests with unparalleled access to some of the Arctic’s most breathtaking and remote landscapes.

In Northwest Greenland, the Ocean Albatros reached an outstanding 79 degrees north, affording passengers a rare opportunity to witness the stunning wilderness of the Davis Strait, between Greenland and Canada, up close.

The season also saw the state-of-the-art Ocean Albatros sail with an impressive 87% capacity (a record for Albatros Expeditions maiden seasons), underscoring the ship’s popularity among adventurous travelers seeking intimate and immersive Arctic experiences. Throughout the season, the vessel covered 16,715 nautical miles, showcasing its seaworthiness and reliability. Guests from 46 different nationalities joined us throughout the season, further enhancing the diverse and enriching experiences shared onboard the Ocean Albatros.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the success of the 2023 Arctic season onboard the Ocean Albatros,” said Hans Lagerweij, CEO at Albatros Expeditions. “The ship exceeded both our and our guests’ expectations, and we can’t wait to see her continue to host adventurous travelers as she sails Antarctic waters for the rest of the year.”

Albatros Expeditions remains committed to providing unique and unforgettable small ship expeditions inspired by our Nordic heritage, prioritizing safety, sustainability and innovation, with a family-owned company’s care for details. At the helm of Ocean Albatros and Ocean Victory, the company looks forward to continuing its mission of sharing the wonders of the world and welcoming future guests, staff and crew into its family.
