July 24, 2024 – As we transition from one financial year to the next, 1000 Mile Travel Group (1000MTG) reflects on the significant achievements of the past 12 months and eagerly anticipates the opportunities ahead.
“Our global expansion has been remarkable,” said Nicola Veltman, CEO and Co-Founder at 1000MTG. “We proudly welcomed 26 new businesses to our host agency across the globe, which marks a significant milestone for our company.” The company also experienced impressive organic growth globally, driven by new business acquisitions, team expansions, and new fee structures. “This growth is a testament to our team’s dedication and our strategic approach to market needs,” added Veltman.
In addition to organic growth, 1000MTG introduced three new brands over the past year. 1000MTG Vacations in North America, offering a unique service for corporate to leisure lead generation for independent travel advisors and exceptional supplier offers and deals to their clients. Its Australian counterpart, 1000MTG Escapes, was also introduced in June 2024, attracting significant supplier and client interest in a short period of time.
“One of our most exciting innovations is 1000Access, powered by Sabre, which we launched in North America,” said Ben Ross, 1000MTG CEO and Co-Founder. “This tool allows users to search, look, and book air, hotel, and ground services GDS-free, saving time and increasing profitability. By the end of this year, it will also support ticket reissues and refunds, with global roll-out dates in the United Kingdom and Australia to be announced in the coming months.”
1000MTG also held its first highly successful Australian Symposium in Melbourne in December; was selected as a finalist in the National Travel Industry Awards – Top Host Agency category and was also successful as a finalist in two categories for the prestigious 2024 Virtuoso Travel Awards in North America – the Highest Annual Growth Specialty Award and Top Producing Tour Award. The company also joined Virtuoso in the UK and launched its streamlined online advisor portal, The Hub, in October 2023.
Looking ahead to FY25, 1000MTG’s vision is to continue innovating and building on their current tools to provide the best user experience. “Our guiding philosophy, championed by our leaders Christy Shafer, Lauren Gray, and Alex Locke, revolves around three pillars: automation, migration, and elimination,” explained Ross. “This approach ensures we keep our network of valued travel advisors and their clients at the forefront of our efforts.”
Major initiatives for the coming year include launching an independent self-brand agency offering in Australia, with two agencies, LaTrove Travel, and Magic Happens Here Travel and Cruise starting in July. In North America, the company will introduce a corporate service for advisors looking to expand their portfolio or for those seeking a host agency with real-world corporate expertise. Additionally, 1000MTG is developing a roadmap with Tramada to enhance efficiencies across its network, aligning with its automation, migration, and elimination strategy.
“We are also excited to host two major conferences next year,” said Veltman. “The Australian and UK conference will take place in February in Hong Kong, and our North American conference will be held in the Dominican Republic in May, expanding the opportunity for our advisors to network with one another, our leadership team, and valued suppliers.”
